Lieutenant John H. Martinson
The FDNY Pipes and Drums regretfully announce the death of Lieutenant John H. Martinson of Engine Company 249 in Brooklyn.
Lt. Martinson, 40, sustained critical injuries while battling a two-alarm fire at 1700 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn on January 3.
Lt. Martinson was appointed to the FDNY on May 9, 1993. He previously served at Engine 204, Engine 80 and Ladder 23. While serving at Engine 80, he received a unit citation in 1996. He was promoted to lieutenant in December 2002 and assigned to Engine 249 in March 2006.
A resident of Staten Island, Lt. Martinson is survived by his wife, Jessica, and 1-year-old son, John Patrick.
Lt. Martinson is the 1,138th member of the New York City Fire Department to make the Supreme Sacrifice in the Department's 144-year history.
As always the Pipe Band will be at the funeral to honor him and send him off with the dignity and respect he deserves.

New site
Welcome to our new web site. We have worked for the last couple months to develop a state-of-the-art web site that will better serve our viewers. The new site is much easier to navigate and contains much more content. Some of the features are a much larger and easier to view photo gallery, a new video section that includes a flash video player (coming soon) as well as many YouTube videos of the band. The "News at a Glance" and "Events boxes" make it easy for you to see what's going on quickly. The links will take you to a more detailed explanation of that news story or the event scheduled.
The Store has been overhauled and now you can buy all FDNY Pipes and Drums merchandise, CD's and our iTunes (Must have iTunes installed on your computer) directly from our (or an affiliate's) site with your credit card. Just hover your cursor over the store link and it will give you all available options. We have audio files from the past on here so you can enjoy some vintage tracks from the band's early days. (You can hire the band and donate to help us defray the high costs of uniforms and equipment.) There is a new and updated roster, so you can find your favorite member. We have also updated the history to the present day, so read up to see what has been going on. We still have our Guestbook, so feel free to stop by and say hello.
We have added an advertising section on all the pages now, so if you are interested in showing off your business on a very busy web site please contact us to find out how. Overall many of the changes that have been made, have stemmed from our viewers' requests for things. We hope you enjoy browsing the site and, as always, your comments are welcome.
