Members of the band will be flying to New Orleans to take part in the christening of the new Marine transport ship, the USS New York. Part of this ship was created using steel from the fallen World Trade Center towers. For more information on this event please click here

About the FDNY Foundation

The FDNY Foundation is the official not-for-profit organization of the New York
City Fire Department. The mission of the Foundation is to assist the
FDNY and EMS in educating, informing and involving the public in
protecting life and property, and support the Department’s operational
enhancements.

The Foundation raises money for programs through government grants,
corporate gifts, foundations and individual donors like you. This
fundraising helps the Department maintain the tradition of excellence
that is recognized throughout the world as setting the standard in fire
suppression, pre hospital medical care and emergency response.

We raise money for the Department’s fire safety programs to continue
educating the public to take preventative measures to protect
themselves from serious injury or fatality in the event of fire,
medical emergencies, homeland security risks and other threats to life
and liberty.

The Foundation also provides grants for expanded training programs, the
purchase of equipment and investments in state of the art technology to
assist the Department in reducing injuries and fatalities.

The Pipe Band will be Marching in the Savannah, GA parade this year, which steps off at 10:15 am. It is not very often we get the chance to do this, as our parades usually fall on the same day.

This is a 5-mile race. Start on East Drive at 67th Street and run
around the northern loop of the park to West Drive. Continue on West
Drive to the 72nd Street Transverse. Turn left to finish located on the
72nd Street Transverse.
