A Band in Need

Oran Mor Pipe BandThe FDNY Pipes and Drums has made a donation to the Oran Mor Pipe Band from upstate New York who suffered a major loss of equipment and instruments when their bus caught on fire on the way to Highland games in Ohio last month.

They have sent out a plea for people and bands to help, and we have responded. For more information on how you can help them out, please click here.

Friends of the band, you are invited...

We'd like to invite you to subscribe to the new Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Newsletter. We will be providing periodic emails highlighting upcoming events and news about the band. This is a one-time mailing, and will not subscribe you to our newsletter. However, since you have previously shown an interest in the band, we are hoping you will wish to subscribe. If you do wish to subscribe, please click here.

We are a band grounded in the NY Fire Department heritage, evolving from a rich Gaelic tradition to perform for fire department functions, community service events, corporate events, and musical venues. We have served for the past 46 years with our love of music and community service.

The FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums is a non-profit, all-volunteer musical group, supported solely through donations and sponsorships. We are a 501(3)c foundation; donations are tax-deductible.

What we do.

Friends and members,

The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, a nonprofit organization, is composed entirely of either retired, or active New York City Firefighters. Prior to 9/11/01, our main source of income was derived from performing at parades, special concerts, volunteer apparatus dedications, etc.

However, since 9/11, because of our dedication in providing dignity to the member and their families at over 500 funerals and memorial dedications, the Band has grown increasingly popular among the Department, and with that popularity, it has almost doubled in size.

The Telegraph Office

The Telegraph OfficeThe Telegraph Office, a Midtown NYC Internet Marketing firm, with whom the FDNY Pipes and Drums partnered last year to re-create our web site, donated $16,716 worth of work towards our new site.

The new web site, which is far more user-friendly and easy to navigate than the old one, has been very successful for us. The number of requests for band appearances has increased by over 50% in the last 10 months.
